EDTC 803 Data Analysis and Report Writing
This course will focus on the content and the mechanics of effective data analysis and report writing. Candidates will analyze textual and graphical data from many sources, process data in ways that readers can understand, and generate comprehensive academic and business.
Assessment 1 – Using Secondary Data
Based on your readings, your experiences, research, and your imagination, take a historical landmark and infuse technology, so that it is interactive, appeals to a wide audience, and can provide appropriate physical distancing.
Assessment 2 – Using Primary Data
Describe the emergent themes from a group of people profiled in LifeHacker’s How I Work series. Purposefully Select 10 cases from LifeHacker’s “How I Work” series (http://lifehacker.com/tag/how-i-work).
Assessment 3 – Analyzing Data for a Statistical Report
The faculty of the Communication Arts Department at the University of Bangkok, Thailand, has hired several Thai and international lecturers to supplement its professional staff. These lecturers have contributed to the Communication Arts Department with their expertise as artists, designers, advertising producers, and market researchers.
A. Compute the mean for Mr. Kwanta and determine whether he should be approved automatically for the professional development stipend. Present your findings, conclusion, and recommendation in a memorandum report for the lecturer with a copy to Dr. Chayo.
B. Include a critique memo with specific and detailed reasons for Mr. Kwanta’s recommendation regarding the reward of the educational benefit. This memo should be
based on the data gleaned for the tabulated survey. Be sure to include recorded strengths and areas in need of improvement.
Assessment 4 – Constructing Visual Aids
Conduct research and develop a visual to illustrate one set of data with at least two variable. Incorporate the visual into a short memorandum report, applying the introduce-display. Use Web sites such as http:www.govengine.com, quickfacts.census.gov, and www.census.gov or search Dataset Search on Google or https://www.kaggle.com/datasets for an interest area. These are only examples of data sets, use something you are interested in.
