EDTC 815 Administration and Supervision of Technology in Educational Settings
This course prepares students to serve as professionals who promote the development and implementation of technology infrastructure, procedures, policies, plans, and budgets for schools and organizations at an advanced level. The course prepares students who desire to lead education and training organizations in improving teaching and learning through the scientifically sound application of educational technology.

Assignment 1: Ethics Project
Think about teachers who you will work with. You will create a training video for a population of teachers to help them teach their students the expectations for promoting responsible, ethical, and legal guidelines for gathering, sharing of new information with an online global community. It can contain vignettes, scenarios, modules, role play, etc. It should be engaging, motivating, and creative while the message is strong. There needs to be a quiz at the end (brief and can be multiple choice) to ensure completers understand the major concepts of Ethical Practices in their colleges. Participants need to score an 80% or better on the quiz to demonstrate successful completion.

Create a training video for teachers that contains the following components:

Intellectual rights and property (copyright, fair use)

Quiz
Ensure:
Scenarios are appropriate and relevant for the learner;
Presentation is engaging; and
Content is positively stated. For example, rules should focus on what to do rather than just what not to do.

Assignment 2 – Chairing a Search Committee
The Provost has asked you to Chair the Search Committee for a new Assistant/Associate Provost. Think about the needs of your college and mission of your college (provide me with that information) and then:
Design a detailed position description summary that will be posted that includes a summary of the position, the purpose of the position, the nature and scope of the position, the duties and responsibilities, required qualifications (education and experience), desired qualifications, salary range, and any additional important information.
Then write a 2-3 page narrative about how you will form the committee, how candidates will be evaluated from initial application to recommendation for hiring, and any other pertinent details.

Assignment 3 – Technology Implementation Plan
As a leader in education, you have been asked by the administration to increase achievement in Mathematics or English (select one) based on the incoming students’ scores on standardized testing. You will come up with a plan that selects a technology (software and/or hardware). You must include in your recommendation what technology will be used, the need, how it will be implemented (by technology department, administration, and teachers including trainings), costs (time, people, and money), supporting research and theory (in APA format), and what measures will be used to assess the success. Your recommendation must take into account diverse learners, ELL and students with special needs.

Assignment 4: Response to 4 Discussion Topics
Write a 1 paragraph for 4 of the discussion topics of your choice from the Discussion Board.

Assignment 5 – Designing a Professional Development Experience Demonstrating and Exemplifying Your Role as a Leader
The Provost has purchased and deployed a new Learning Management System (LMS). However, teacher evaluations show that teachers are not using it effectively. Some teachers are still giving instructional materials to their students in paper format instead of assigning them electronically in LMS.
The Provost has asked you to design a professional development series to remediate this situation and to include teachers, librarians, administrators, and other stakeholders.
The first phase is to understand why there is resistance and find ways to overcome it.
